Ok, I agree with you about the actions of the Muslims, If Mohammad was amongst us, he would not even raise a brow.

My position on this issue is, let the cartoonists do what they want to do, at the end they will get bored. and they will lose.

but on the other hand, if the Muslims did not, the West will think that we don't support our religion and we don't defend our prophet.

Also with the outcry of the Muslims, resulted in making attention to the religion and many people in the west entered Islam because of the cartoons. libraries and bookshops were completely out of Islamic books in the first two weeks of the incidents (Cartoons and Movie)

So there are two sides to the issue. and God protected and defend Islam by making many people enter Islam. If this incident did not occur, people in the west are still a sleep.

the Muslims could have behaved in a better way to defend Islam. and to tell you the truth as much as they love Islam, they don't know how to defend it properly, it is not because of the teachings of Islam, it is their ignorance and their local cultures.

once they learn the patience as Islam tell us to be, they will be better muslims.

'I have been made victorious with terror' – I have refered to this one in one of my comments

The battle of Tabouk that never happend because the romans ran away when they heard the Muslims are coming to meet them in Tabouk, (The romans were marching towards Mecca) So Mohammad army conquered a vast area of arabia and Syria without spelling a single drop of blood. When muslims reached, the Prophet said I was made victorious by Fear or by Terror (Whatever) - this is the fact that was mutilated by whoever told you about this incident. People like to exaggerate, they find the word terror give a ring better than fear.

as for the Hadith, I looked everywhere in Sahih Bukhari for the Hadith (Volume 5, Book 59, Number 377), I could not find any reference. as for the first one (Vol. 4, Book 52, Number 220), yes it is there and I don't see any problem with that Hadith. and I am sure neither can you.

So i dont know from where you got this one (Volume 5, Book 59, Number 377) in the English text, may be inserted on purpose
