Reader comment on item: The Rot in Our [Canadian] Universities

Submitted by Leslie Satenstein (Canada), Jan 30, 2003 at 19:49

I believe that every coin has two sides. The host side is the fear of massive destruction of university property by mobs opposed to your speech, and the other side, the guest side, is the desire to allow dessenting opinions to be heard.

The university, as host, was trying to have both sides of the coin available with equal priority.

In future, at universities, or elsewhere, there should be a debate, where both sides can, with a moderator, present their arguments. There should be pre-specified topics and/or questions.

Jews should not appear as being Muslim bashing. They cannot be bashed. In my view, if ever there would be a religious war, it will not be between Muslim and Jew, but between Muslim and Christianity, two religions in so much opposition to each other, and fighting for the masses.

Every religion, Jew, Christian, other, around 1400 years after its inception, had holy wars. Around 4000 years ago, the Jews did a tremendous slaughter of pagens, The Christians did it in the Crusades, and now, it's around 1400 years of Muslim existance and it's their turn. I hope to not have holy wars via terrorism or other brutal means.

Back to the article, Daniel painted a view without finding out the reasons why the university acted as they did. He is right to report what he did. But I would also like to have a report from the hosts.
