Reader comment on item: Why Shariah Must Be Opposed
in response to reader comment: Reply to Plato (India), Sep 18, 2009 -Why Shariah must be oppposed

Greetings. Curmally, you write,

>>This is the second time you have quoted voluminously from the Quran e Karim. I would refer you to the Surah Al-Kafirun whose last line says<<

Check my other posts, I quote the Koran voluminously often because Muslims tend to accuse me of not having read the whole Koran or quoting out of context and …you know the usual excuses for defending the indefensible verses.

…'Unto you your belief and unto me mine." I endorse this point of view completely.<<

Does Allah need your endorsement of his ayat? Be that as it may. Are you prepared to endorse Allah's point of view in these verses:

009.029 YUSUFALI: Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. [ Book 043, Number 7185: Sa'id b. Jubair reported: I said to Ibn 'Abbas about Sura Tauba, whereupon he said: As for Sura Tauba, it is meant to humiliate (the non-believers and the hypocrites). …….

Please endorse this ayat of Allah calling for the humiliation of the kaffirs? And how about these:

009.033 YUSUFALI: It is He Who hath sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth, to proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it).

003.085 YUSUFALI: If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).

058.021 YUSUFALI: Allah has decreed: "It is I and My messengers who must prevail": For Allah is One full of strength, able to enforce His Will.

What happened to Allah's "unto you your belief and unto me mine"? Are you willing to endorse these verses of Allah? If yes, why then did you quote Surah Kaffirun? Also remember that Surah Kaffirun is a Meccan Surah and the others I have quoted are Medinan ones, that is they abrogate the verse you quoted (abrogation is something which Allah has conveniently endorsed for Himself)

These verses cannot be wished away by pleading context. Read the previous verses and following ones or read the tafsirs ( I have), they are worse than straws for a drowning man.

>>I am not trying to convince anyone about their being right r wrong.<<

Would I be right in my interpretation that 109:06 is completely trashed by 9:29, 9:33, 3:85 and 58:21 all revealed when Muhammad had the power of the sword in his hands and the power of Allah's power to eat His own words: 002.106 YUSUFALI: None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things.

Don't try to convince me. Just a yes or no will do.

>>I am stating a point of view.<<

Your point of view is that you can select verses that sound nice and loving from the Koran and ignore the intoleratnt, abuse and curse verses strewn liberally in the Koran.

>>Trust my attitude is clear.<<

Your attitude frome this post is clear. You will pick and choose only those verses that are presentable in civilized society.

With regards

Plato
