Halacha and non-Jews

Reader comment on item: Why Shariah Must Be Opposed
in response to reader comment: Differences between Halacha and Sharia

Submitted by Avi Keslinger (Israel), Jul 14, 2014 at 01:57

It is simply not correct to state that Halacha does not apply to non-Jews. Jewish law states that there are seven commandments, known as the seven laws of the children of Noah, which apply to the non-Jewish world. Moreover, there is a debate among the rabbinic authorities with some (see, for example, Rav Moshe Isserles, Resonsa HaRema 10) who state that the commandment to enforce the prohibition against theft and robbery means that non-Jewish countries should adopt the entire corpus of Jewish civil law .

While we certainly do not seek to bring about acceptance by force discussion of the subject in legal forums in the hope of convincing people is legitimate and is taking place.
