Now here is your lesson for today: There are two words for the word prophet in the Arabic language: 1. Nabi and this is a loan word from Hebrew and the ulama early on decided that such word is reserved for Biblical prophets (see al-isra'iliyyat) 2. Rasul from the root RSL as in send (rasul mursal) and this was supposed to be the prophets of the Arabs but we also have the Quranic; al-rasul al-nabi al-ummi and this is supposed to be Muhammad where he is supposed to be the Arab prophet (rasul) that belongs to the line of biblical prophets (nabi) but he is an ummi or gentile (or non Jewish) and no the word ummi here does not mean un-educated but it means gentile
