Blood is thicker than water!

Reader comment on item: Obama, the Middle East and Islam - An Initial Assessment

Submitted by B.N.Gururaj (India), Feb 4, 2009 at 22:52

No doubt, President Barak Obama converted to christianity at the age of 27 years. His life has been one well thought out strategy for ascension to the highest office in the world, especially for a first time senator. Having given up Islamic connection for political expediency, the President has not wholly disowned his relations who are still "the faithful".

Since he has been elected to the Presidential office as an American citizen and not as a Muslim, it is incumbent upon him to keep his personal relations and their faiths wholly out of public discourse. Otherwise, as you have subtly mentioned, it is more than merely "worrisome". It would be unfortunate for the whole world, if the President is seen to have a hidden agenda and dilutes America's combat against global terrorism.
