Obama Security Clearance

Reader comment on item: Obama Would Fail Security Clearance

Submitted by Douglas Turner (United States), Oct 23, 2008 at 16:24

I am retired now but I spent many years working as an engineering manager for a major aerospace company. My position and, especially, many of the projects were highly classified and required me to have top secret clearance with special background investigation. Mine was a high level clearance but the president requires even more.

The associations listed in the article would have immediately disqualified me from receiving the necessary clearances and I would have been placed in a much less sensitive position. Granting of clearances is NOT a right and it is subject only to administrative decision.

I guess there are more relaxed standards for people like Obama.
