Reader comment on item: Obama Would Fail Security Clearance

Even more alarming, perhaps, would be a foreign policy without clues to Aristotelian Wisdom--common sense. Reagan was on the right track when he got the heck out of Lebanon. He should have listened to McCain and not gone in. You know where I'm going with this. We need to revisit our policies from A to Z. But we also need to do right by all the legitimate concerns in the Mideast fiasco. Israel is a friend. We need to do right by her. But Global Justice is out there, so to speak.

I'm haunted by the old story of David and Goliath. On 9/11, the new David attacked the new Goliath. Or, so the current "narrative" seems to me. In this light, McCain is the short term solution to "peace in the Mideast." Obama could turn out to be the more long term solution. I believe he will do right by Israel, but in the context of Global Justice. In any case, Israel will perhaps be forced to make some concessions she has been unwilling or unable to make. And so will the Palestinians and their backers.

p.s. If Aristotle were alive today, then he would have read several times over and absorbed all of it...What? Everything. His mind, unsentimental, global, would look for common sense answers or directions at least--to problems hitherto believed to be "hopeless." And if Aristotle were alive today, with his instincts of Prudence... Mr. Pipes's article does not quite do justice to the entirety of the mind and heart of Obama. Read Dr. Laurence D. Cooper in a recent Commentary piece. Ask Dr. Kenneth Adelman, Just what is it you see in Obama besides an invitation to the White House?
