I agree with most everything you say on almost all of your posts. However, The Old Testament never said there was no punishment in death, hell, or whatever you want to call that place.

Man has lost God's concept of "death". We are dead until we "cross over from death to life" through acknowledging God's Christ and then following. When our hearts stop beating we continue to exist. The body is left behind until judgement day. Hell is the second death sentence .. There will be absolute punishment. God did everything he could and far more than was just. He loved hard and, so much, that he paved the way to eternal paradise. It means making tough choices that involve a love for truth, righteousness, love itself, and forgiveness.

The American male has done a complete turn around in the past two centuries. It's now all about SELF-reliance and our macho ability to handle anything that comes our way. In the past, godly men went to war and won. We have since bought into the lie that we did it all. So many wars hung by a thread so many times and, "oddly" things just went right. The Nazis of World War II had that war won so many times and, "oddly", things went south for them.

We are in the last war. We have deserted God. We are about to get a wake-up call and our self-reliance is going to get a painful lesson. It will be very costly. A nation that, among other things slaughters babies by the millions at birth on a legal technicality, has an enraged God at its doorstep. In Old Testament days, God punished nations with bad leaders and other nations. When a nation follows God and then deserts him, there will be hell to pay.
