A blind spot?

Reader comment on item: Obama Would Fail Security Clearance

Submitted by John W. McGinley (United States), Oct 23, 2008 at 12:59

Ever since I started reading you after "9-11" I have admired your intellectual acuity and the high tenor of moral insight which you bring to political matters involving Israel and the United States. Yes. I have openly disagreed with you on your assessment of Sharon's decision to evacuate the Gaza. But you made a credible case for your position even though I disagreed with you.

For some time, however, you have exhibited tunnel vision when it comes to the candidacy of Senator Obama. In in this last article you have even lost credibility. Most of the things you cite in your article are not substantial at all. Nit-picking and it is not worthy of a man of your calibre of intellect and moral tenor. I suspect that ater eight years of an Obama presidency you will be embarrassed by this sustained tunnel vision you have had with respect to Senator Obama.

Unless he is assassinated, the presidency of Obama -- both in Foreign Policy in in Domestic Policy -- will come to be judged in terms of worthy of a Lincoln: the right man for the right time.

And consider this. The single most important decision made by Senator McCain (whom I supported publically in 2000 during the Republican Primary Season) in his campaign was his choice for Vice-President. This decision ALONE would disqualify him for the presidency. It was an irresponsible choice in all respects.

I will still read you blogs. You are a good and intelligent man despite this blind spot of yours.
