Let's be fair to Obama

Reader comment on item: Obama Would Fail Security Clearance

Submitted by Dennis Graves (United States), Oct 23, 2008 at 12:24

I agree with Dr. Pipes that CAIR and other such organizations are a considerable problem. And I strongly support Israel. However, I do not believe that the statements of a senile old man (Percy Sutton) or any of the other evidence asserted in this article makes a reasonable case that Obama would be sympathetic to Muslim extremists or anti-Israel mid-East states.

Obama's platform calls for eliminating dependence on mid-East oil within 10 years, and he is the only candidate that has indicated he would push for high average mileage requirements for vehicles, which is the key to achieving that independence. Obama also is the candidate that has taken the most assertive position against the disingenous regimes in Pakistan, even to the point of indicating that we might pursue Bin Laden and others into NW Pakistan. Further, Obama is the candidate who would engage Iran in negotiations, a far better way of attempting to prevent Iran's development of nuclear weapons than the Bush-McCain position of not even talking with Iran.

Such positions are not consistent with Obama's secretly harboring pro-Islamist or anti-Israel views. ...
