Reader comment on item: Saudis Import Slaves to America
in response to reader comment: Why I am not surprised

This is only one of hundreds of stories I have read about people enslaving others in the past few years.

Each one blames one religion or the other but they all got their start in the same palce...religion!

Protecting these inhuman acts are people who claim that it is their religion. Think about this...

This story is in all 3 of the major religious texts!

God was perfectly alright with Abraham using his wife for a prostitute, passing her around for Pharoahs to use while he collected riches or saved his own skin, and forcing himself on a sex slave and him committing infanticide and throwing the slave and his baby out in the desert to die. You are not alright with that? You are more moral than God?

This cannot be right, can it? Some say that it was alright in the context of history, but if God was perfect to begin with, why would he change his mind?

It seems flawed from the beginning and it only got more flawed over time, so why protect it now? Religion should never be given any consideration anywhere, it is too uncivilized to be taken seriously. People have the right to believe anything they want, but they do not have any right to extend those beliefs others.
