Reader comment on item: Saudis Import Slaves to America

Submitted by Lynn (United States), May 29, 2009 at 08:09

When a religion uses any excuse to cause people to be subservient to that religion, slavery, and indentured servitude is a logical next step. In Saudi Arabia anyone that practices another religion besides Islam is less of a person and treated as less. It is not surprising that slavery is practiced in that state since being a follower of Islam already gives people an excuse to treat someone as a lessor person.

Islam teaches that Mohammad is the example to all Muslims on how to live a perfect life pleasing to Allah. Mohammad practiced slavery among other things so therefore followers of that faith think it is in their rights to also practice slavery especially with persons who are not Muslim.

Since leaving Islam is considered a crime punishable by death, persons who are born into the Islamic Faith are also slaves to that religion since they have no choice in leaving or converting to another Faith. So it makes sense that when talking about slavery in a Islamic State that religion would be the topic of conversation.
