Not a surprise at all.

Reader comment on item: Saudis Import Slaves to America

Submitted by Kevin M. (United States), Jun 17, 2005 at 08:51

Having worked in Saudi Arabia for four years, I am not surprised by any of this. Although King Faisal was reputed to have outlawed slavery in Saudi, it flourishes to this day. A man I knew, from the Philippines, was a car driver for his employer who, according to Islamic law, refused to purchase car insurance. The Filipino driver was in an accident with a Saudi and found to be guilty (naturally, as no Saudi is guilty of anything when the other person involved is a khaffir). The driver was forced to repay the damages to the Saudi's car, a Mercedes-Benz, amounting to his complete wages for over the next seventeen years. He will not be allowed to leave Saudi Arabia until it is all paid back. Tell me that isn't slavery!

Why in the name of anything noble do we have relations with Saudi Arabia?!
