I TEND TO AGREE WITH ALOT OF WHAT MR. FLEMING HAS WRITTEN ABOUT. TWO SMALL-BUT IMPORTANT HISTORICAL FACTS HE LEFT OUT ARE: WHEN THE MUSLIMS CONQUERED 'NORTHERN AFRICA' AND IT BECAME PART OF 'GREATER ARABIA'-ARABS MADE BLACK AFRICANS SLAVES! THEY ALSO WOULDNT ALLOW THEM TO CONVERT TO ISLAM!!!! THESE TWO PRACTISES WENT ON FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS. THE ' A LLOWING' OF BLACK AFRICANS TO CONVERT TO THE ISLAMIC FAITH IS A RATHER MODERN ONE. RATHER CURIOUS THIS RECENT 'TURN OF EVENTS', THOUGH HISTORICALLY IT MAKES SENSE.

ALSO, IT TOOK MOST ARAB AND AFRICAN COUNTRIES ANOTHER 100 YEARS ( 1960'S) TO 'FREE ' ITS SLAVES, AND THAT IS SERIOUSLY QUESTIONABLE. INDENTURED SERVITUDE HAS ALWAYS THRIVED THERE, AND AGIAN ONE IS SEEING THE 'RE-EMERGENCE' OF AN OUT-RIGHT SLAVE TRADE.

IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO 'LOOK AROUND' AT ARAB COUNTRIES AND TH E 'BLACKER' THE SKIN, THE POORER ONE IS.
