I disagree, sir.

I hope you're wrong, sir. I think the bitter, partisan climate of U.S. politics will "allow this to happen," if it does. My doctorate is in theology, not medicine. My perception is that President Bush's political worldview is not driven by "Christian ethics." I'm afraid we've positioned ourselves, with all our internal bickering, as France di in the late '30 where they were incapable of acting aggressively in our own self-interest.s

I fault the:

  1. hunger for power that drives both political parties, wherein they think, first, of what's good for the party, and then what's good for the nation
  2. "mainstream" (quickly shrinking) media for it's Anti-War Vietnam Disease (every conflict for evermore will be refracted through the days when reporters stopped--in their own minds--the Vietnam War)
  3. softening of American society (I hear that some school systems won't let kids play "tag" on school grounds anymore)
  4. litigious to the extreme

In that order.
