Reader comment on item: Decision Time on Iran

There will be no military operation on Iran. Such an undertaking will require the resumption of the "draft" and that ain't gonna happen with a preemptive war. Any military action against Iran will be seen as a move to protect Israel. In the past Israel has fought it's own wars and was admired for that reason, but when US soldiers start to die, the dynamic will change and so will the politics.

Iran may be run by fanatics, but they're not stupid----they're not going to start a nuclear war they can't win. Their development of nuclear weapons is for defensive purposes mainly, in their minds, to prevent a US attack. With Israel allegedly having such weapons the concept of MAD comes into play and we have a stand-off----sound familiar?!

What the US will do is go full speed ahead on the development of the "Starwars" iniative and should such a shield prove most effective then you may see a preemptive strike somewhere in the future.
