Multiple meanings of S-L-M

Actually, the word Islam is not at all related to peace. The verbal root S-L-M has multiple meanings among which are "peace", "surrender", and "submission." Islam means "submission [to the will of Allah]", from the verb aslama "to submit." Submission is semitically distinct from peace.
