Reader comment on item: Arabist Snobs
in response to reader comment: Do you know any Arabic at all? or are you just making things up?

Are you sure you are not Dhimmi_No_More in disguise....

These are his tactics .... plain outright lies. I used Babylon an example it gave words for all three. That is without breaking a sweat and looking things up in a technical dictionary (I can do that if you wish).

The only answer U received from Arabic speakers to the Arabic for lazer, was lazer, they laughed when I showed them your claims.

I doubt you have got Arabic friends.... but what can I say I am even more knowledgeable than Arabs. That is often the case. I have Master Degree in the Language. Even if I do specialise in Classical Arabic.

So if all these translation programs are wrong, does this not show that there has been no requirement to translate these words?

I checked out two Babylon and Google.... and both fine. Results below.

The translators I used were rated as the most popular on Google, and seem to work well with Chinese, French it even worked better than Arabic when translating Maori to English. Maybe Maori is a more sophisticated language.

Hang on ... are you claiming you are able to understand any of these languages?

I am sure Arabic is a complex language, but that does not make it sophisticated. Remember I did not have to look hard to find the words I used as an example, I can find hundreds of words needed in modern society that there are no equivalent in Arabic.

Ha ha ha ha - such as? I easily proved you wrong over these.... if you do not understand a language you do not understand a language.... poor tactics like yours just show you up badly. And I was right in my assessment. All you have got going for you is HATE. And that is not good.

The word for laser is الازر - word for fractal is كسوريه the word for microchip is رقاقة

Are we on the same page when it comes to the word laser or lazer.

In British English (from home of English!) the word is laser. I cannot find your LAZER - or are you sticking to a spelling mistake?

Laser - as in described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser

The word in Arabic is ازر

The word for rice is ارز

There is a difference

The word LASER Babylon translates it as follows

أ. اللازر أداة لتضخيم إشعاع الردت

The same word I said. From Al- Mawrid dictioanry - available at Kallamullah.com

Again Babylon gives a word for FRACTAL - تجده

Different from mine - but it does give you a word. Google translate gives you the same word however.

But I do not know this word. Will looking it up.

BBC uses the word in this article:

Again if you put the word MICROCHIP into the Babylon translator it comes up as

الرقائق - plural form or Raqiqah. So it too has the word.
