In the Arabic/Muslim culture the notion of truth is a very relative one. The factual truth is of no consequence as long as an expedient lie can be successfully marketed. Lying to "infidels" whenever required is sanctioned by the Islamic law under the term of Taqiya. Thus the "Jebusite roots" of the Palestinian Arabs shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, even though sometimes they claim to be offsprings of the Philistines.

The curious thing is that the closest to the truth lie would be that they are in fact offspring of the leftover Jewish population of Palestine who were forced to Islamize by the Arab invaders. Most probably some of them indeed are, but claiming this would jeopardize all the rest of their false narrative.
