In fact, Land of Israel remained a Jewish possession during the last 2000 years

Reader comment on item: Not Stealing Palestine but Purchasing Israel

Submitted by Larry Feldman (Canada), Jun 21, 2011 at 16:47

Since the Jews neither abandoned or surrendered their homeland, a better story would be that the land of Israel remained a Jewish possession during the last 2000 years. It is true that due to conditions created by alien rulers, the Jews were subject to continuous exile.

However, if one reads the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, it seems a case can be made that it is the Jews who are the indigenous people entitled to all the rights that the Declaration speaks of.

It would appear that according to this Declaration, conquest is not everything, and since the Jews kept their continuity in their land, they retained very many rights in their homeland.
