Reader comment on item: Bolstering Moderate Muslims
in response to reader comment: My Response

The canon of Muhammedism does not encourage tolerance of diverse belief systems. It discourages the equality of women, and freedom of choice. While the Muhammedic canon may be practiced by moderate and non violent individuals, the canon of writings, and judgements by the Muhammedian elites remain non moderate and, on balance, justify brutality, not simply to advance the cause of Muhammed, but as a political tool of repression which, unfortunately, are the same.

Moderate Islam would require a deconstruction of the canon, and a rejection of violence to advance Islam. This would render Muhammed and his teachings moot, since the spreading of Islam via "The sword" is the vital principal. In fact, spreading his message by "The sword" is the singular innovation of his entire belief system. Eliminate this principal and Muhammed becomes just another frustrated camel salesman.
