Reader comment on item: Is Prince Charles a Convert to Islam?
in response to reader comment: Funny to relate the bombers to Islam

You are correct insofar as you go in that Torquemada and his equally devout pals in the Spanish inquisition was indeed a shameful episode in Christian history. However in defence, that was the thinking of political correctness at the time. Power was might, and you will become a Christian or else. T

he Qu'ran contains many such episodes, where might was right, and you will become a Muslim or else. The point is two wrongs never did make a right. The Christian churches have politically at least 'grown up' That sort of thinking no longer applies. On the other hand however Islam has not so grown. the middle age philosophy still applies. Anyone even criticising Islam is subject to death threats. Look at Geert Wilders, a Dutch politician who has to be guarded round the clock for daring to criticise Islam.

How about the author of the satanic verses? I have not even started on the suicide bombers, and the perpertrators and plotters of mass killing. It all reminds me of a comment a naval captain friend of mine once said of Captain Bligh. He was no worse, if no better than any other naval commander - of that time. The Christian church has moved on. Islam is still; religiously speaking in the Bligh era. When for example will Saudi Arabia allow non Muslims to practice their religion of choice? Are they so insecure, or are they following Islams precepts?
