According to an article about the riots which erupted between Muslims and non Muslims in the town of Windsor - (due to unrelated Muslim non Muslim tensions) the Queen accomodated a Muslimah gift shop employee by designating an Islamic prayer room at Windsor Castle. While the Queen allowed a mosque room in her castle local Muslims who run and dairy have demanded a mosque and a school and have been clashiing with non Muslims in riots which went unreported in most of the UK press and appear not to have made the news elsewhere.
Riots over Mosque on Queen's doorstep
Castle. Nagina Chaudhry, a student who works part-time in the castle's gift shop, won approval from Her Majesty to pray during Ramadan within the castle walls.
Last night Nagina, 19, begged rival gangs to stop the violence. She said: "I believe that if the Queen is willing to accept other cultures and religions, then surely Windsor as a town should be equally gracious.
"I hope the problem is resolved quickly and peacefully but I believe the mosque should be built as there is no proper place for Muslims in the town to pray." Local councillor Cynthia Endacott said: "I do not think the police have taken a pro-active response to the complaints from residents over the years.
"They have been warned that something might happen. I would urge everyone in the community to stay calm."
While the violence over the building of a mosque in the town at Windsor point to a strong Islamic element in the local Muslim community, it appear to have enothing to do the prayer room at Windsor (unless the Queen did it to diffuse tensions),
The granting of a Muslim prayer room within 'the castle walls' is both a significant and curious development on three counts:
Muslim women are presumably not obligated to pray five times and day
Muslim men who are obligated do not have tot do so inside a mosque
The indication is that the castle walls have been breached by Islamists.
Which begs the question if Charles will be using it too?
