Reader comment on item: "Islam" Does Not Mean "Peace"
in response to reader comment: Note to Seamus MacNemi

I might ask you that same question. Yes, the meaning of words can change over time according to their use, but that is the very thing that Dhimmmi No More seems to be denying. If he wants to be a linguistic purist I guess I can as well, don't you think?.

As far as Armageddon is concerned, we have managed to postpone that horror so far through a number of wars and incidental crises. But because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean that we are out of the woods. It's not G-d who will destroy the world and it's not HIS will that it be done. It's only the hubris and greed of men that will cause that to happen. If men will for once listen to G-d there will be no cause for destruction and famine. The Devil will find himself suddenly unemployed and there will be no need for the Mashiach to come and bail us out of our predicament. We won't need anyone to rule over us because we will rule over ourselves according to the commandment.

I realize that this all sounds rather pollyanna, but it is possible if we repent and return to G-d. We don't have to convert to any religion be it Christianity or Islam or what ever. G-d alone holds the keys to salvation and if He grants authority He can also take it away. The Church has shown a pretty poor record of husbanding that with which it was entrusted and the Protestants haven't done much better. I see no reason why I should put the matter of my salvation into the hands of another man no matter how he is ordained. If I want to talk to G-d, I go straight to G-d. I don't mess with middle men and I shouldn't have to. A man's the fool if he puts himself between me and G-d. If G-d doesn't knock him out of the way, I will.
