Reader comment on item: "Islam" Does Not Mean "Peace"
in response to reader comment: Trading one tyranny for another?

You also see it as I do. We are a free people and we each have the G-d given right to encounter the G-d according to our own lights and understandings. The true religion must come from within the individual. It cannot be imposed from the outside. Any attempt to impose a religion on others is nothing less than spiritual rape and cannot be tolerated in the name of the G-d. To do so is an intolerable offense and must be opposed with the strongest of laws.

When an individual encounters the G-d something in that individual changes and that change cannot be reversed. It is like being made a whole new person. All of the worrys and concerns of the individuals previous life fall away as if they had never existed. The individual is given a new lease on life and a chance to start all over again.

Some people change their names to reflect their severance with their past lives. It may at first be difficult for them because the associations of their past life will keep trying to drag them back into the mess that they left behind. They may need to move to a different area of the country or sever ties with their familys in order for their transformation to complete itself but like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis they emerge a being whole in spirit and body and something truly beautiful. They may or may not be a member of a religious community. They may or may not be Christian, Muslim or Jew. Where they end up all depends upon circumstance that none of us can predetermine. For anyone to think that he or she can forestrall such transitions or predetermine the outcomes is like expecting a plant to forestall flowering in the spring.

Enlightenment Happens. NOT by the will of man but by the will of the G-d. It is the way of all living things.
