response to John Bastile on "is Islam a religion?"

Reader comment on item: How Terrorism Obstructs Radical Islam
in response to reader comment: Islam is a religion?

Dear Mr. Bastile,

It is on this evening that I log onto this website and the title of your message provoked me. I read your message, but honestly i think you mis-chose your sources.

Being a Muslim woman and more importantly a researcher on conflict prevention, I would rather guide you to some balanced resources rather than engaging in a discussion that you might think is biased becasue i am a muslim.

I would like to recommend you a book titled Non-violence and Peace Building in Islam: Theory and Practice by Mohammad Abu Nimer. I think it will explain some of the non-violent culture of Islam.

Unfortunately in the political world of today, Islam is made the world's most dangerous enemy thanks to radicals like Bin Laden.

the many comments you place in your message about Islam present a very shallow knowledge -not understanding- of the writings of Karen Armestrong and she is a non-Muslim so unbiased enough to make an objective writer for you to read. i can suggest the book titled Mohammad: A Prophet for our Time, and Islam a Short History.

When you read soem of these, we can discuss the religion and the currrent mis-application by some Muslims and states.

"No Need to Pity Us"
