Dear sirs,

I agree with Daniel Pipes that there is a kind of see saw swing effect, much like the Sein Fein and the I.R.A., good cop bad cop, and it is all pressure, with the makeup on the heros and villains radically changing from week to week. There are real concerns for the Palestinian people, which I share, concerning the West Bank, yet one gets the impression that the Spanish bombing in Madrid was just brutality, and ditto the 9/11 and 7/7. In the London bombing, for example, muslims quite likely were riding the subway and might well have been killed in the blast. The western decadence is often cited in the apologists for terror, our use of alchohol, our voting system of democracy, and followers of the Ayotollah Khomenei even made a kind of common cause with the NLF in Vietnam. In a deadly bomb blast that killed 29 people including the bomber at an Israeli resort hotel during a Passover Seder, the bomber reputedly vowed he would carry on Hitler;s works, before heading off , strapped with dynamite. I believe the U.S. used Saddam Hussein as a pawn, and the WMD for Iraq claims have been exposed as bunk, but an uneasy kind of Muslim Lite regime thing exists in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and Syria simmers, still brooding over the 1973 war. Bigotted Anti Semitism has been on the rise in France and the U.S., and some radical muslim clerics simply want to kill Jews period, which I believe does not reflect the bulk of Islam. These terrorist people are thugs, and scare their own communities into silence, much like the mob, and the ties to the Mufti of Jerusalem, a guest to Hitler during the Second World War, are eerie. I do not at all endorse the sanctions against Iraq that killed 500,000 women and children in the oil for food program, and the arab world should simply have self government, without western interferance, but problems loom if Iran goes ahead with its Nuclear program, and the bi cultural aspects of Palestine Israel, such as the holy foundational cities of Jericho and Hebron on the west bank , are lost in the rhetorical shuffle.
Some suspicion exists that the murderous Al Quaeda is using the Palestinians as a prop for further goals. This is the mess the world confronts , when it tries to bring lasting peace to this tormented region.
