How to clean up the mess?

Reader comment on item: From the Halls of Academia

I don't think we can unless we become as ideologically fixated as the universities.

Education in America is marxist based. Colleges and Universities are now only a place of credentials not real learning. Credentials and real learning are both important but at todays universities credentials mostly come in one flavor.

Real learning occurs when you have the freedom to openly discuss most ideas without fear of reprisal. This does not happen at todays Colleges and Universities.

When Academics talk about intellectual freedom they mean non main stream academic marxist thinking
When they talk about diversity they mean to denigrate the ideological roots and underpinnings of the society.
When they talk about affirmative action they are are using the apparent fair distribution of race as a cover for the absence of real diversity in thinking.

If a report card was given out for real learning most educational Colleges and Universities would fail. Surprisingly the US army, IBM and privately funded organizations would get the higher marks.

College educated people with degrees find it hard to accept that the place of learning they held in high esteem is strangling thinking. We need to overcome our admiration for universities. They are credential and resocializing factories.

The upcoming fight to continue to develop thinking will not be to change the universities. It will be to keep the internet free. The elite politically correct movement doesn't want to have a place where most ideas can be discussed.

How do you change universities with tenured professors with the same mono vision? You can't without using draconian means. Learn to accept that real learning takes place elsewhere.
