Why squelch?Reader comment on item: From the Halls of Academia Submitted by Dick Baker (United States), Dec 28, 2002 at 17:43 Daniel,I have appreciated your positions that call for more concern about militant Islam. You are rational, well-spoken, and not shrill generally. You are way over the line in picking out US critics in the universities here to try to silence. This is detracting from your credibility with us liberals who very much want to hear and understand both sides of issues. We really need to understand our role in the Islamic world's hatred of us, while stopping those that would like to use violence against us. Our Senator, Patty Murray, is correct in asking what Osama is doing to be beloved by his followers and what we are doing to be hated. Thank you for sending the professors' response. ...
