Response to "A Fight for Freedom of Speech"Reader comment on item: From the Halls of Academia Submitted by Eric Kammer (United States), Jan 1, 2003 at 01:31 This was written to the editor of the LA Times and I thought you would like to see this response.Dear Editor: This is in response to A Fight for Freedom of Speech Dissent doesn't mean a lack of patriotism by Eric Foner and Glenda Gilmore Los Angeles Times December 27, 2002 If these two writers are professors then the US is in deep trouble. If the United States took steps during the Clinton Administration to take pre-emptive strikes rather than wait until 3000 people were killed on September 11 then the United States would not be in such a mess at this time. Wars are not great but sometimes they are needed to prevent disasterous results. Israel would be off the map if it adhered to the same policies that are being stated by the two writers. Comparing what the US is doing now to what Japan did is complete lunacy. Sincerely, Eric Kammer Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
