I disagreeReader comment on item: From the Halls of Academia Submitted by Andy (United States), Dec 29, 2002 at 02:49 Democracy is based on opinion. If you lessen one person's ability to express an opinion, you are weakening the entire foundation of your democracy. Therefore, it is not these professors that are unpatriotic, but those who wish to stifle their voices.... Now, that does not mean that unpatriotic views should be suppressed. He has every right to continue distributing his opinions to everyone who will listen. And, so do you. But, no one has any right to forcefully shut up another just because they disagree. Please stop acting like children. Andy Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
