Hah!

First of all, it's absurd for Gilmore and Foner to claim that they are not unpatriotic. Their comments speak for themselves. They are either missing the boat completely or intentionally being disingenuous when they claim that their dissent does not show a lack of patriotism. That is correct, and if their critiques of US policy were well reasoned, unemotional, and balanced I would say that they might be correct. But, their comments are the exact opposite.

Gilmore and Foner do not address any of the other issues raised by Pipes, but scream in terror at the thought that a university could consider not allowing professors to say whatever they want to say. But, why should hateful and unbalanced opinions by professors necessarily be tolerated, especially by a private school?
