University Profs still don't "get it"Reader comment on item: From the Halls of Academia Submitted by Alan Skorski (United States), Jan 1, 2003 at 17:40 Did you ever notice how leftists hide behind "the democratic right to dissent" when they blame America? They criticize America's moral leadership (which they hate) then attack conservatives as wanting to silence those with an opposing viewpoint. In the recent debate between Daniel Pipes and the 2 so-called professors from Columbia and Yale, the professors claim their anti-Bush, anti-war position is not because they aren't as patriotic as the rest of us, rather their position is consistent with most of our allies. Here's the difference. Our allies lack the moral backbone and fiber that we in the US stand for. The French, for example aren't interested in doing what's right as much as they are concerned as what is good for them at the moment and if declaring war against Sadaam now, as Britain has, is bad for business, then they will not jump on board. The French never declared, as our esteemed professors, that "...the enemy is us". Again the French are the French and they have their own backwards way of doing things. Namely, rely on the US to do their dirty work for them. The professors, on the other hand, are not interested in open honest debate, rather they choose to pervert the truth and poison the minds of students. They obviously feel threatened by "outsiders" whose opinion may conflict with those elitists in academia of which they are a part.
