Reader comment on item: How Many Muslims in the United States?

Submitted by Stas (Ukraine), Jun 30, 2012 at 17:23

Does anyone know what the distribution of Muslim voters is in the US? It would be interesting to document the extent to which there is or is not influence in the election of political representatives who are friendly or connected with Islamic groups. I have heard that there are large populations of Muslims in Michigan (Dearborn) mostly a Lebanese community, and a large Somalian community in Minnesota. It would be useful to track the effect, if any, of these populations and whether they represent a significant voting bloc.
