Your May 22, 2007 report from the Pew Report Center sounds right.

A study of religious beliefs (reported here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,332590,00.html) now indicates that

"less than 1 percent of the total population" identified themselves as muslims in the USA. Tthe US population currently stands at 300,000,000 approx.
