people really need to get over this utopian muslim spain myth. there was widespread oppression, a fully enforced dhimmitude, expulsions, persecutions, executions for blasphemy and missionary work, ubiquitous slavery, anti semitic massacres (on one occasion 4000 killed in one day), when islamic spain fell the agreeable terms of surrender contained anti semitic clauses at the insistence of the muslims and when the jews were expelled most of those who fled south were enslaved and sold by there muslim neighbours/hosts.

If you're going to cherry pick the years, you can argue that germany was the universal light of religious tolerance
