FOR WEST-BANK ARABS ONLY 2 REAL OPTIONS EXIST: (A) HAMAS RULE; (B) JORDANIAN RULE

Reader comment on item: Solving the "Palestinian Problem"

Submitted by G Marcus (Israel), Jan 11, 2009 at 14:23

"Palestinians" cannot govern themselves because they are Greater-Syrian Arabs locked-up in refugee camps and more recently also given a pseudo-national identity just to spearhead the 1974 PLO plan for the phased destruction of Israel.

Far from a nation, they are an "anti-nation" unable to unite behind any other cause.

Only force keeping Fatah presence alive and preventing West Bank from turning into another Gaza overran by Hamas is Israeli army.

Fatah option is none other than State Dept fiction that does not exist in reality.

Solutions:

- Gaza: Under Egypt, or if necessary under a tamed Hamas, needs to be turned into Singapore/Dubai-like industrial/logistics hub on Eastern Mediterranean.

- West Bank: In light of more complex geopolitics, parts of West Bank to be linked with Jordan; safeguarding security and settlements for Israel, demographics for Arabs, holy sites for both.

Any other track, including 2-state proposal, will only cause more war and bloodshed, and is detrimental not only to Israel, but also to Jordan, and ultimately to West Bank Arabs.
