Reader comment on item: Solving the "Palestinian Problem" [with the No-State Solution]
in response to reader comment: Arabs should absorb their refugess like Israel absorbed Jewish refugees from Arab countries

In order to end the constant warfare that is occuring throughout the Islamic world, (Which the Israeli-Palestinian issue is a major part of) a drastic change is needed in how the Koran is interpreted. Many of the 'authentic' laws of Islam need to be either re-interpreted or ignored. Such as the penalty for leaving Islam is death, and stoning a woman to death who was convicted of adultery, and the moral obligation to kill 'occupiers' of Muslim land, and the payment of Tribute.

The concept of Jihad has to become an internal struggle, not "what has been most commonly interpreted as an armed stuggle for the defense or advancement of Muslim power". Add separation of church and state. No more loyalty to Islam over and above the government that represents you.

These types of issues are just causes for open warfare. It only takes one or two. For example: The two main issues decided by the U.S. Civil War was the abolution of slavery and the federal government overriding of 'state rights'.

As the issue of slavery demonstrated, people will fight using organized warfare to prevent the changes in their way of life that this reinterpretation of the Koran would entail. This helps to explain the ideology of the terrorist groups that are of such a threat worldwide. This also helps explain the constant warfare and violence that is so common throughout the Islamic world.

Change of this magnatude can only be expected to occur slowly over generations. A large problem is that time is NOT on our side. Sooner or later one of these terrorist groups will obtain and deploy an effective weapon of mass destruction. The changes will then become much more drastic and immediate. For everyone.
