Would this plan stop the rockets?Reader comment on item: Solving the "Palestinian Problem" Submitted by Edward Halper (United States), Jan 7, 2009 at 16:26 The rockets are being imported into Gaza through Egypt. I wonder whether an Egypt that controlled Gaza would be able to suppress attacks against Israel. To be sure, Egypt has a long history of suppressing the Muslim brotherhood, but that is because the latter works to overthrow the Egyptian state. Egypt could easily decide to look the other way as the Muslim brotherhood continues low grade attacks on Israel, and it might see this as a way to let the MB let off some steam. In such circumstances, an Israeli incursion into Gaza could mean war with Egypt. This really would be back to the future, that is back to pre-1982 treaties.
