I disagree with Dr. Pipes criticism of the M. Greengard's proposal to "transfer" the Arab population out of Yehuda-Shomron. For one thing, it would avoid a repeat of the tragedies which occurred between 2000-2005, when 1,700 Jews were massacred in terror atrocities by Arab gangs located in these areas, not to mention those that were maimed, burned or lost their livelihoods in the economic ruin that followed. This reason alone is sufficient to warrant a "population exchange". S

econdly, Dr. Pipes automatically assumes that rockets would be fired from Jordan instead of Gaza or Yosh. But even if that happened, Israel has superior firepower and can simply use their excellent artillery and air force. But even ignoring the terrorism, it's a fact that the Arabs embitter the lives of the Jews in Israel constantly with their uncivilized behaviour. It's obvious that there aren't any solutions that don't entail considerable risks, but it seems to me that everything else has been tried and "population exchange" is the one left that hasn't been tried. I'm not advocating forcing them out at the point of a bayonet, but transfer could be done humanely. Within a generation or so, almost all the Arabs in Israel would be gone, and Israel would be an infinitely more peaceful, prosperous and tranquil place to be, which was the whole point of Zionism in the first place.
