The crusades were conducted despite Christian teachings, and yes, they were nasty and unjust, but so was Futuh al-Islam aka the muslim "crusades" or the invasion of the Middle East starting in 633CE! But the God of Islam demads that his followers fight those who were given the book and humiliate them and get them to pay the mafia tax known as al-jizya (see Q9:29)

What is most amazing about the crusades and the suffering of the people of Jerusalem is that even the Eastern Christians were not spared, and the Muslims cared less about the sufferings of other Muslims. But when the crusadres attacked the caravans of Muslims this is when the likes of Salah al-Deen felt that something must be done. You see my dear friend, I can see Adam Smith turning in his grave. See it is all about looting.

So you tell us ya ayuha al-fayalsoof al-kabeer why did the Arabs invade the Middle East in 633CE? Hint: it was all about looting and Allah getting his share of the loot (Q8:41)

You need to read the writings of Sophronius and understand the suffering of the people of Jerusalem in 633CE at the hands of the Arabs your friends that is and you can also read John of Nikiu's writings and understand the sufferings of the people of Egypt at the hands of the Arabs and both sources are extant (see Hoyland survey) so you have no excuse.

As for Constantinople yes the people of this great city suffered at the hands of the crusaders but also at the hands on the Tuks aka Muslims but the difference is that the God of Islam demands that he gets 1/5 of the loot (Q8:41)! So tell the poor victims of such atrocity that their suffering was justfied.
