clueless politicians

How is it, a few of leaders at least, are so good at times running the government, leading the country generally in the right direction then get all sensitive or politically correct and say such stupid things - about Islam, over & over? They would have to be suffering from some sort of memory loss to blunder like that.

What does it take for them to get it through their heads - the loss of a family member (911) or have sons deployed to Iraq & Afghanistan? I had 'them' (Saudis) figured out in the early 1980's, long before my wife lost a family member in 911 (pentagon) & had 2 sons & son-in-law deployed & re-deployed (Afghanistan & Iraq)...
