Excellent links, which I don't remember seeing before.

We hear that the "Islamophobes" among us are repeating the words of fear-mongerers, but your second link relates what the Saudi government publishes:

"It is basic Islam to believe that everyone who does not embrace Islam is an unbeliever and must be called an unbeliever, and that they are enemies to Allah, his Prophet, and the believers," reads one document published by the Saudi government and available to worshippers at a San Diego mosque. "That is why the one who does not call the Jews and the Christians unbelievers is himself an unbeliever."

The country is not behind the president because he is not willing to fight. I submit that if he had done as you suggest, the American people would have approved wholeheartedly. We thought he was on that path after 9/11 (with us or against us, climbing on the pile at the WTC) but the PC crowd reined him in. Presidents need to lead, not take a poll and rush to the front of the crowd. I thought George W. Bush would be a leader. I was wrong.
