covering of heads is not the problem

Even though I'm not Jewish, when I attend a Jewish wedding I wear a Kippah if those are provided. Even though I'm not a Buddhist, I maintained a respectful attitude when I entered Buddhist Temples in Asia. Similarly, if I ever visit the Dome of the Rock I won't have the slightest problem respecting the generally accepted rules of the place as defined by it's religious adherents.

The problem is not in respecting Muslim rules of decorum in Muslim places of worship. The problem is in public officials appearing to validate those who preach the noxious teachings contained in the Koran.

A public official should no more appear at the mosque of an Islamist sympatihizer than at a speech of a Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan.
