Who realy is responsible for the oil monster?

I think its a bit overly convenient to blame President Bush for the oil monster that plagues us. The average American has to accept his own share of the blame for demanding a have it all materialistic life style and thinking that he is somehow entitled to this level of indulgent priveledge. Few people in the world live as well as we do and we are entirely too self centered to realize that we are pushing the limits of what nature can long endure. In this country we squander more resource that we actually need or can use. Take a look at our automobiles, is there any legigitimate reason why we have to have things that can go two hundred miles an hour when the average highway speed is about sixty mph for most sane people? As well, what does anyone need a ten room house for when he has a family of perhaps two or three to care for? Yet most seem to be enthralled with the idea that bigger is somehow better and more is just as important. Few I know have a thought for sufficiency.
