In defense of CORRECT Islam

Reader comment on item: The Enemy Within [and the Need for Profiling]

Submitted by Jamalluddin As-Salafi (United States), Mar 27, 2003 at 23:29

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful; Peace and blessings be upon His final Messenger Muhammad, to proceed:

Firstly, I want to say that the word 'Islamists' or the phrase 'Islamic Militants' destroy the religion's image. So I, as a Muslim, feel that the correct phrase that should be used in reference to these terrorists who ascribe themselves to Islam should be
'Deviant or Misguided terrorists ascribed to Islam' And I say this because:

- Killing innocent people is strictly forbidden in Islam and has a horrible punishment.
- Committing suicide for whatever reason is also forbidden in Islam.
- Coercing others to practice the Islamic religion is forbidden in Islam.

And I can go on about the deviance of these groups. These deviants and other than them interpret Islamic teachings to fit their own personal views or emotions (which Islam also forbids). For example, as one of the users commented on a verse from the Qur'an which states, "And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. . ."(2:191) The deviant muslims will use this verse as an evidence to kill innocent non-muslims. And the non-muslims will, and have used this verse to portray Islam as a barbaric religion.

But the reality is that this verse was revealed after the muslims were being slaughtered by the non-muslims and they were ordered to fight them AT THAT SPECIFIC TIME. And the verse just before it says, "And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress no the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors."(2:190) Just think, if we (muslims) were to continue to follow orders to kill non-muslims, then there would be multiple BILLIONS of murders a day, because there are billions of muslims all over the world in every continent and almost every country.

Futhermore, I wouldn't object to Mosques being monitored. A mosque I attended in New Jersey several years ago, before any major terrorist attacks occured, was investigated by the FBI and they found a bunch of people trying to worship their Creator upon the CORRECT ISLAM. Besides, maybe they might be guided to Islam.
