Circumcision was not borrowed from the Jews, but originated in the days of Abraham with God's Covenant with him. Of course we Muslims do not confine circumcision to males as that would be discriminating against women who are also God's people. Thus it has to equally apply to both. According to Arab tradition Abraham's Egyptian spouse Hagar (the mother of the Arabs) was the first woman to undergo it.
