Koran and forced conversionsReader comment on item: The Enemy Within [and the Need for Profiling] Submitted by George P Burdell (United States), Sep 20, 2006 at 11:52 While forced conversions have been done by Muslims in history, it was not a common occurrence as it is discouraged by the Koran. That does not mean that Christian, Jews, and others were not reduced to second class citizens. Christians until the 20th century often reverted to forced conversions, even between sects (Protestant sect to Catholicism and vice versa). Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
