Comment on Amjad Khan's opinion

Reader comment on item: The Enemy Within [and the Need for Profiling]
in response to reader comment: For Pipes, more grouping and less nuance...

This is another response to Amjad Khan's "...more grouping and less nuance" opinion.

The fact remains that a white Caucasian convert to Islam can be as dangerous as the most hardened Arab terrorist. John Walker Lindh is an uneasy reminder of that. His religious convictions (acquired entirely in the United States) led him to wage a vicious jihad against his own country from the remote mountains of Afghanistan.

One must ask therefore, what is it that must have been taught to him in the mosques of Marin County in California that led him to tread this path of terror?

The bitter pill we need to swallow, if we ever are to win this war on terror, is that every convert to Islam no matter what his race or ethnicity is, is a potential terrorist. There is no racial angle in this matter.
